Horse with large bump on rear. Serious Injury or not?

Mainly it just looks like a conformational fault, due to bad breeding. It will never go away as such, as you can see it is pretty much how his spine goes - but when you get the weight on him again properly, and build his muscle up - the bump should be a whole lot less obvious, and I doubt it's doing him any harm.
