YES you did. Cats are just trying to say to us, " see look what I did! Isn't this great! Do you likme my gift to you?" So you shouldn't be screaming and yelling at you cat because he gave you a gift from him. So, yes I think that was the wright thing to do in my eyes. You might have to start expecting more of it's "gifts" though.
