How to go about talking to her?

I hate to be one of those people posting cheesy dating advice questions, but this isn't something that happens to me often and I'm trying to decide the appropriate way to go about this. I am 23 and in college. I am very picky when it comes to women and I don't date often at all due to lack of interest. It is a very rare occasion that I see a girl I find interesting. That, and also I'm not a very socially competent person when it comes to meeting new people. I'm very introverted, day-dreamy, and in my own little world... and 99.9% of the time have little interest in leaving it. Anyway, there's this girl that was in one of my college cles this past semester that caught my eye the first day I saw her. I'm a musician/songwriter - and I could tell by the way that this girl looked that she was probably into music which was sort of the first thing that sparked my curiosity. I'm really shy and couldn't work up the to talk to her the entire semester. I recently came across her myspace page when browsing local groups and was shocked to discover that we have almost identical interests... so much so that it's almost scary. It's almost like seeing a chick version of myself. Now I have a major crush on her and feel compelled to send her a message, but I know how chicks get weirded out easily and I don't want to come off like some quiet weird stalker or something. Any advice? I'd particularly like to hear from females ages 20 and up. Like I said, I've very inexperienced with this sort of thing and don't know how to go about it. Every girl I've dated was the result of an abnormally aggressive woman asking me out -- which is most likely why I've only been in two serious relationships.
